What to Expect
Where to find us:
The address of the ranch is 13998 Old El Camino Real, San Diego, 92130. The school is located at the first riding arena you come to on your left. There is a sign that says Kids Riding School as well.
Speed Limit:
The speed limit is 5 MPH. Please do not exceed 5 MPH, we have lots of children and horses present. Thank you for keeping everyone safe.
When to arrive:
We recommend you arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled lesson time. Children will be fitted for a helmet and parents will sign a release for first lessons. Our teachers will be expecting you, but please make sure you tell a staff member that you are "here."
What to wear:
We recommend long pants for our riders, jeans or stretch pants. Closed Toed shoes are required for riding and for being in the cross ties with the horses. Children who arrived in sandals or crocs will not be able to get on the horse for safety reasons.
Horse care:
We encourage your child to groom and take care of their horse after their lesson, if your horse is going back out, children/parents are welcome to ask to care for another horse :)
Cross Tie Rules:
Cross ties are where our horses are clipped into when waiting for their lessons. All people inside the cross ties must have a signed release. Closed Toed shoes are required for entering the cross ties. An instructor will always be down at the cross ties ready to help kids and parents with brushing/untacking/feeding treats, or to answer any questions.
Treats:
We have many older horses and many on special diets. We provide specific brands of treats for children to feed the horses. Please ask a teacher before feeding any horses a treat. If you want to bring treats from home, we allow cut up apples, baby carrots, peppermints and sugar cubes. Not all of our horses can have these treats, so please ask an instructor before feeding any treats brought from home.
